Hi, I am Emilio's mum. I hope this is ok to post here - please remove if not. We are new to the world of karting and motorsport but I am discovering there are many barriers for talented youngsters in reaching professional motorsport level and so I'm currently carrying out an independent study (not connected to my son and his karting) into how young drivers progress from grassroots karting into professional motorsport (Formula 1, Formula E, IndyCar, endurance racing and other professional series).

The aim is to better understand:

• How talented drivers are currently identified.

• Whether the current pathway is working effectively.

• What barriers exist for young drivers.

• What those involved in grassroots karting believe could be improved.
  

I'm looking for responses from drivers, parents, team owners, mechanics, coaches, race officials, circuit owners and anyone involved in UK karting.

The survey takes around 5–10 minutes, and all perspectives are genuinely welcome, whether you think the current system works well or believe it needs to change.

The findings will be brought together into a report summarising what the karting community thinks about the current pathway into professional motorsport.
